"You have a Dream" now share it....

In this day of digital communication, the idea I have may seem old, but it is based on the basis of our society “a Love of Democracy”, I propose a Public speakers square to be held in the Mall Wednesday evening of every month (maybe it will become weekly).

One of the most democratic events we can experience is the ability to speak to other’s and the most emotive and sharing ways is in person. We communicate 85% of our language through body language on digital media unless by video, we generally share less than 15% of our ability to communicate.

We currently have a democracy in Australia, this is our privilege not a right. Europe does not currently operate under a democratic system , it is currently undermined by an unelected troika. There is the European Commission, The IMF (International Monetary fund), and the European central bank all of which are unelected. Europe is in a state of disillusionment and anger and our political system and democracy is an attractive feature.

America does not operate democratically, it is controlled by a 2 party system, primary votes that can be rigged by super delegates and an electoral college voting system that does not require leadership to be voted in by popularity or the greatest number of votes.

"Our democratic system is not perfect, but our system is far better, fairer and cheaper than the largest supposed democracies in the world."

What better way to promote and evolve our democratic process than by the sharing of ideas in a public forum.

"I do not know what the name shall be? I hope the council can make a competition of it."

The goal is to create an open forum of ideas. Speakers shall be local, foreign, cultural, educational and spiritual. Australia does not have a constitutional amendment for free speech but the goal is to create a local event and attraction and bring visitor to our proud city.

The world is constantly changing, some changes are horrifying and some exciting and enlightening. I am reminded of the quote “The pessimist complains about the Wind, the optimist expects it to change and the realist adjusts the Sail”.

There will be no scholastic requirement for the speech, a guide or script must be provided for inspection in order to provide a buffer for the spreading of hate speech, but discrimination can and will be allowed to be discussed. The goal is share the experience and to grow the communities conscience.

Let me know your thoughts…
